Anti-seismic experiment of prefabricated KOFINAS

The experiment was carried out on February 2, 2022

Three story essay on physical scale, manufactured by the company KOFINAS Prefab Houses was tested experimentally with the use seismic simulator of the National Technical University of Athens.

The purpose of the tests was to check the response of the structural system against seismic action.     

The success was a result of the technical advantages:

1. Screw, which is robotically placed in all the construction parts of the house
2. Metal connecting plates, with which we tie the construction
3. Oversizing, load-bearing organism through mechanical study
4. Reinforcement, at the stress points through a special static program

E.M.P. seismic resistance experiment for the KOFINAS 2022 prefabricated houses

Kofinas prefabricated houses are famous for their maximum earthquake resistance. THE KOFINAS company wanting to prove the great anti-seismic resistance of its prefabricated houses, it tried to certify this advantage of its constructions in practice by conducting a scientific experiment in a three-story structure of natural scale.

In February 2022, in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens, the houses of KOFINA Prefabricated Houses were tested again on a physical scale using a seismic simulator.

Because buildings are what can kill and not the earthquake, we invest in their quality with the aim of your own safety.

Which was done for the first time in Greece and one of the largest in Europe.

So, February 2, 2022 another scientific anti-seismic experiment was conducted to verify and scientifically approve the maximum staticity of KOFINAS prefabricated houses in a three-story building of natural size.

Following the stability experiment carried out in November 2009, during which a one-story test house of the company, entering the seismic simulator, withstood up to 1.5 g of acceleration while remaining intact, the KOFINAS company wanted to seal this result and go a step further.

So in 2022 he carried out a static experiment in the seismic simulator at NTUA in a three-story life-size test specimen by loading it to seismic stresses of 1G acceleration, which is equivalent to 9+ on the Richter scale, without damage.
