The speaker initially attempts to cover the concept of wood as a biological material, its main disadvantages, and to present its main biotic and abiotic &quot;enemies&quot;. Then, the concept of hazard classification for wooden structures is analyzed and the use classes are explained, which are directly related to the biological resistance of wood species based on the EN 350 specification. Then, after a brief historical review of wooden structures, old wood protection and maintenance techniques are presented, related to tar, natural oils and natural resins. Among modern protection techniques, the technology of wood impregnation is presented and technical and other information on this subject is given, as well as on its proper use and application.
